Church Family, First, I want to give you the decision that the safety committee and I have made regarding services tomorrow. All services for this Sunday, February 1, 2026 are canceled. I love preparing sermons, preaching sermons, and praying over sermons. I love visiting our church members and welcoming prospective members. I love helping to lead us in song on Sundays, leading us in prayer on Wednesdays and leading our mens' and couples' groups in studying God's Word. I genuinely love everything about being your pastor, but I must admit...I do not love making decisions about the weather. These are never easy calls. Please know they are made with prayer and a genuine desire to care well for every family in our church. As I’ve been thinking about the recent cold weather, I’ve been reminded of the difference between cold and warm. Cold conditions make us cautious, slow us down, and remind us of our limits. Warmth, on the other hand, brings life, comfort, and rest (just ask our cat Henrietta who loves to let the sun beat down on her while she naps in front of our bedroom window). Scripture often uses warmth as a picture of God’s care: His nearness, His kindness, His presence among His people. Even when circumstances force us apart physically, the warmth of Christian love, prayer, and encouragement can still surround us. Let’s be intentional to check on one another and keep that warmth alive this week. Looking ahead, my plan is to spend the daytime hours on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday devoted entirely to visits. I've missed seeing you, and though I most certainly can't make it to see everybody in just three days, I do hope to be able to catch up with as many of you as time permits. That said, if you would like me to come see you, whether for prayer, encouragement, conversation, or simply fellowship, please reach out to me. It would be my joy to spend that time with you.
