Mask Requirement per Gov. Northam
Effective Sunday, May 31st we are asking that you observe the governor’s orders as lined out in Executive Order #63, which can be found here... https://www.governor.virginia.gov/media/governorvirginiagov/executive-actions/EO-63-and-Order-Of-Public-Health-Emergency-Five---Requirement-To-Wear-Face-Covering-While-Inside-Buildings.pdf.
I know that many of you will disagree with this. You’re certainly not alone. Everyone is an expert as far as the virus goes these days. One expert says they aren’t helpful. One expert says they do more harm than good. Another expert says they could save the lives of those around us. Any of us could be carrying the virus at any time. That’s why I’m going to ask you to wear a mask to church...not ONLY because Romans 13 is clear that we shall obey those appointed over us (unless what they demand is contrary to God’s Word and commands; wearing a mask is not)...but because we are commanded to love our neighbor. If loving my neighbor right now means being inconvenienced by wearing a mask, so be it.
There will be some spare masks at our main entrance on Sunday morning, should you need one. There are exemptions to the requirement for masks, but “I don’t feel like it” is not one of them
We will continue to post our services online for those who don’t feel comfortable being there, for those that are unable to be there, and for those unwilling to wear a mask.
I love you, and I would ask that you continue to pray for pastors and other church leaders everywhere. These decisions aren’t easy. They’re going to make some angry. But I (and the majority of our church council) feel this is the way to best love our Lord and our neighbor at this time.
It is a joy to serve as your pastor,
Pastor Lee
